Unit 2 Games
Three games to practise forces. Each game has levels from easy to hard and a score. Your best score for each level is saved on this device. Everything works with a mouse, a finger or the keyboard (Tab to move, Enter or Space to press).
Total score: 0
1. Free-body diagram builder
Read the situation. For each force, press Acts on it if that force acts on the object, then pick its direction from the arrows (pick two arrows only when there are two ropes or two of the same kind). Forces that do not act stay off. Then press Check.
2. Net force race
Set the force (or the mass) so the cart hits the target. Press Go to run it. Within 2% of the target earns full points; within 10% passes the level. Use a = Fnet / m and, from rest, x = ½ a t². g = 9.8 m/s².
3. Friction challenge: will it slide?
Read the numbers and predict what the box does. On the hard levels also pick the size of the friction force. Then watch it happen. Remember: static friction is only as big as it needs to be, up to μsFN. Kinetic friction is μkFN. g = 9.8 m/s².
